Help Our Candidates Get on The Ballot

The Canada Elections Act requires each candidate to collect at least 100 signatures from electors residing in the electoral district in which they intend to run. Without these signatures of consent, candidates do not qualify to be on the ballot in the upcoming election. Signatures may be collected in person by canvassing door to door, or in public spaces. Electronic signatures can be collected one at a time online by email or other electronic methods. (See instructions for electronic signatures down below)

Note: Electors signature is to give candidates consent to run for office only, it is not a vote for the candidate.

If you want to help our candidates collect their nomination signatures, please fill out the volunteer sign-up form below.

Electronic Nomination Signatures

The following is the recommended procedure for electronic signatures from electors:

  • Electors must print the form below, fill out all necessary fields and sign it in wet ink in the presence of a witness. (Witnesses must be 18+ years old)

  • The witness must use due diligence to make sure that any signature made in their presence is by a qualified elector (must be 18+ years old) who lives in the riding where the prospective candidate plans to run. The witness must be physically present at the time of the signature and must enter their printed name, address and wet ink signature in the appropriate fields.

  • There are no restrictions on who may witness a signature. Several members of the same household may support a nomination. They can each complete a form and have their signature witnessed by another member of the household.

  • Electors return the electronic signature form by scanning or taking a photo of it and sending it by email to: signatures@nbppc.ca  -Most digital formats are accepted, including .pdf, .jpg, png

Important Note:

Electors and their witnesses must physically sign the form in ink. Electronic signatures will not be accepted. The writing on both the form and its digital copy must be readable and all mandatory fields must be completed so that the returning officer at Elections Canada can validate the signature.
